Bike Riding
to BART
Submitted By: Len Curran
Challenge
How to commute to work in the most environmentally-friendly
way.
Solution
Details
Hi. My name is Len Curran and I ride my bike to BART
as part of my commute to work as much as I can. I live in
Burton Valley which is minutes from the Lafayette Moraga
Bike Trail. I bike to BART for many reasons. First of all
it’s a great way to start my day as it allows me to get
some light exercise on the way to work and take in the
scenery along the trail. I see some of the same people
walking or riding getting their morning exercise who like
me, truly benefit from the trail. After work the trail is
slightly sloped up hill providing a good workout which me
helps to reflect on my day and allows me transition to the
most important part of the day with my family.
On the weekends we ride as a family to various parks along
the trail including the Lafayette Community Center and if
we’re feeling particularly adventurous we’ll ride to Moraga
Commons and back.
Benefits
& Payback
Not only does bike riding benefit the environment but it is
a great way for me to stay in shape and provide me with a
better quality of life.
