Challenge
A few months ago my dad told me I should get a solar clothes dryer. I said "Oh, that sounds interesting. How does it work?" He says, "It's great! It's so easy. It works fast, and your clothes will smell really good." "Hey, I want one of those," I say. "Great! It's a clothes line," says my dad. "Oh, no, I don't want that. It's too much work and I don't like the stiff feeling of the clothes." My dad gives me a look that only dads can give and says, "Who is the person who is always talking about sustainability? This takes a little bit of effort, you know."
He absolutely guilted me into it. But now that we have our clothes line (availble at Orchard supply hardware) we love it! Clothes dry in under 15 minutes on a hot day. The kids enjoy hanging them up. And, I have even come to love the crispy feel of my jeans and other clothes fresh off the line! (stock photograph used to the right)
Benefits & Payback
My husband figures we save about $40 per month, just by not using our dryer. We are loving this!
