Lafayete Reservoir Run

Distributed 460 free CFL light bulbs!
Our participation at the Reservoir Run was a big success!  We gave away 460 light bulbs in just 2 1/2 hours (about 3 per minute!).  If all of these are used for 4 hours per day for the next 5 years it will save around 230,000 pounds of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere.

A huge thank you to everyone that volunteered including: Rosalind Kim, Mary Chandler & Girl Scouts,  Linda Riebel, Tina Tankka, and Sharon and Ian Richard.

Lighting Workshop

Sustainable Lafayette will host a free workshop on Wednesday, October 24 on Energy Efficient Lighting Strategies.  The workshop will feature a presentation by PG&E as well as a couple residents sharing what they've learned about lighting.   In addition to getting answers to common questions, you will learn how to analyze your home's lighting - room by room - to determine the best opportunities for reducing energy use and which changes offer the best return on investment.

Lighting consumes significant amounts of energy in our homes and workplace but there are many opportunities to reduce energy use through existing and emerging lighting technologies.  These include new generation fluorescent lighting, compact fluorescents (or "CFLs"), LED, and motion sensor devices. If you have any questions or concerns regarding how to make your home lighting more efficient, this will be a great learning opportunity!

You do not need to RSVP, but the first 10 that do (by sending an email to info@sustainablelafayette.net) will receive a free CFL flood light to bring home.

When: Wednesday, October 24th, 7 - 8:30pm
Where: Sequoia Room, Lafayette Community Center
