Workshop: "Get Water Smart"

On Tuesday, June 16th, Sustainable Lafayette will hold a 90 minute workshop on how to "Get Water Smart".   Water is one of the World's most precious resources, but the average American uses 176 gallons per day.  After two years of drought conditions in California, figuring out how to reduce water consumption, especially over the summer, is essential.  So, what are the easiest and smartest ways to cut water usage?  This workshop will feature two inspiring speakers.  Susan Handjian from EBMUD, an expert in horticulture, will explain practical water conservation techniques that can be implemented in the home and garden.   Susan will give special focus to using mulch, irrigation scheduling, and drought-resistant plants to significantly reduce outdoor watering.  Acalanes student Blake Marggraff will share what he's learned from conducting water audits and installing water saving devices at the homes of Lafayette residents for his Eagle Scout service project.  There will also be a variety of handouts available.  Don't miss this golden opportunity to "Get Water Smart"!

WHEN: Tuesday, June 16th from 7-8:30
WHERE: Our Savior's Lutheran Church (Rooms 217 & 218), 1035 Carol Lane, Lafayette,
RSVP: to greg@sustainablelafayette.net.  Everyone that RSVPs will be entered in a raffle for water saving devices and other prizes that help conserve water.
